Trash and Recycling

Trash and recycling collection service is provided to Park Hills homeowners every Wednesday by Rumpke. Rumpke offers Park Hills residents one free 96-gallon trash cart and one free recycling cart. You can order your carts by calling Rumpke at (859) 472-7339.

Here are some handy trash tips:

  • Don’t place trash in containers without lids—this can attract animals and create a mess for you and your neighbors.
  • Rumpke typically picks up large items on the first pickup of the month. In general, we recommend you contact Rumpke by Friday to request pickup for the following Wednesday.
  • Mattresses and upholstered furniture must be completely sealed in plastic or they will not be collected.

For any other trash-related questions contact Rumpke at (859) 472-7339 for www.rumpke.com more information.

Pet Tags

All dogs and cats must be registered with the city. The cost is $5.00 per pet, and there is a limit of five pets per household. In warmer weather, pets spend more time outdoors. We ask that you please be courteous of your neighbors by keeping pets in their own yard and any dog barking to a minimum. Please obey the leash law and clean up after pets during walks.

Yards & Streets

Yard Sale Permits

Purchase permits for your yard or garage sale at the city building. Permits are $10 for your first sale of the year, $25 for the second. There is a two sale limit per year.

Leaf Collection

The city’s Public Works department has a leaf vacuum that attaches to the city’s truck so you can schedule your leaf pickups when you rake. The cost is $48 for one collection, $90 for the season, per address. To take advantage of this service:

  • Bring a check, cash, or money order to the City Clerk’s office during regular office hours.
  • Mail your payment to: City of Park Hills, 1106 Amsterdam Road, Park Hills, KY 41011.
  • Drop off payment and date of pickup in the drop box outside city building.
  • List the date you want us to pick up your leaves with your payment—give us at least three days advance notice.

Call the city clerk at (859) 431-6252 or email her at [email protected] if you have questions.

Prepare for your leaf pick-up by raking your leaves into a pile at the curb, not into the street. (Leaves in the gutter can clog our sewer systems and flood our basements!) Also, the drier the leaves, the better—try to schedule your pick up when it’s not raining.

Snow Emergency

Parking is not permitted on city streets during declared snow emergencies. If the emergency is declared between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM, all vehicles must be removed from streets within 3 hours. If declared between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, all vehicles must be removed from streets by 9:00 AM.

Public Transportation

The number 1 TANK bus to and from Florence follows Dixie Highway. See the TANK website for schedules, fares, and more details.
